Modera Institute was born out of a clear need: Ethiopia’s booming construction sector lacked designers who understood both the creative and technical sides of interior spaces. Founder Amanuel Haile—an architect-turned-contractor—partnered with industry leaders to create a school where students learn CAD and color theory as well as how to install trim, select finishes, and run a profitable design business. Today, Modera sits at the heart of Addis Ababa’s Bole district, offering modern studios, a materials lab stocked with real-world inventory, and a network that connects graduates directly to employers and clients.
